Frequently Asked Questions

Licensing, cost, timelines, permits, warranty and living through construction — answered plainly.

Are you licensed and insured in California?
Yes. Renova Nations Builders holds California State License Board licence #1078342 (Class B, General Building Contractor), carries $2,000,000 general liability cover, a $25,000 contractor bond and full workers' compensation insurance. Copies of all certificates are supplied with every proposal, and the licence can be verified independently at cslb.ca.gov.
How much does a remodel cost in Sacramento?
Kitchens generally run $48,000 to $130,000, bathrooms $24,000 to $65,000, and room additions $310 to $420 per square foot including permits. Our pricing page breaks these bands down further. A measured written estimate for your specific home is free.
How long does a project take?
A hall bathroom is typically three to five weeks on site. A full kitchen is five to nine weeks. A room addition is twelve to twenty-two weeks including permitting. You receive a week-by-week schedule with your contract, and 96% of our projects hand over on or before that date.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We prepare submittals, pull permits in our own name with the City of Sacramento or Sacramento County, and manage every inspection through to final sign-off. Permit fees are itemised in your contract rather than added later.
Can we live in the house during the work?
In most cases yes. We install dust barriers with negative air, protect the floors on every route the crew uses, work fixed hours of 8:00 to 16:30 on weekdays, and set up a temporary kitchen for kitchen projects. For whole-home renovations we usually recommend moving out, and we will say so honestly.
What happens if something unexpected is found behind the wall?
We stop, photograph it, price it and issue a written change order for your signature before any additional work proceeds. No verbal extras and no surprise line items on the final invoice. Older homes carry a real risk of this, so we include an openly stated contingency in the budget conversation from day one.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — a written ten-year workmanship warranty on structural and finish work we self-perform, in addition to the manufacturers' warranties on all products installed. We also carry out courtesy check-ins at 30 days and 11 months after handover.
What deposit do you take?
The lesser of $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, as California law requires. Subsequent payments are milestone-based and released against completed, inspected work.
Which areas do you serve?
Sacramento and the surrounding valley, including East Sacramento, Land Park, Curtis Park, Tahoe Park, Natomas, Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Roseville, Rocklin, Folsom, Davis and West Sacramento. If you are just outside that radius, call and we will give you a straight answer.
Do you work with architects and designers?
Frequently. If you already have an architect or interior designer we will work to their drawings and attend their meetings. If you do not, we produce measured drawings and a selections schedule in-house, and we can introduce you to independent designers we trust.
Can you help with financing?
We can introduce you to third-party home-improvement lenders and to local credit unions that offer renovation loans. We receive no commission or referral fee from any lender, and we have no financial interest in which one you choose.
